Mick Cocks, guitarist and charter member of Rose Tatoo, died yesterday in Sidney as a consequence of a cancer of liver of which it could not be restored. The recent history of the brilliant band of hard rock of the antipodes has been tragic.
The bad luck has accompanied them to these types because Dallas ‘Digger‘ Royal died in 1991, Pete Wells was dying in March, 2006 of cancer of prostate, Ian Rilen succumbed six months later to a bladder cancer and his collaborator Lobby Loyde died in 2007 of cancer of lung.
The bulletin that the band hung on his web page along with the photo of the musician is very plain:
We are much grieved of announcing that the guitarist and charter member of Rose Tatoo, Mick Coks, lost his battle against the liver cancer and died today, on December 22.
A few months ago, several artists and Australian bands, Jimmy Barnes, You Am I, Ian Moss y The Screaming Jets, supported Rose Tatoo in a concert benefit of the guitarist who formed the band in 1976 along with Angry Anderson, Ian Rilen, Pete Wells and Dallas Royal.
Singer Angry Anderson has announced that the band will continue his career as homage to his deceased partners:
After Pete's death it was desolated emotionally and did not know if I might recover. But we keep on touching without him because he had wanted it like that. And Mick also had wanted that we kept on acting. We will touch with the integrity, the passion and the commitment to keep on doing our songs to produce homage to those who are already not.
Old man rests in peace roquero!
