The best Spanish débuts of the XXIst century (Part V)

Creme caramel Fights quotes Tarantino

We enter the high part of the list, throw the brake and shell our last 15 national début discs with the rest that are deserved, because of five per day. Many of the names begin coming that some esperabáis, although it is possible that not in the order that you wanted. In any case, me pay attention with my mantra for lists: "you have left with what you do not know, because it is possible that you are getting lost slightly big”.

And I feel it, Fran: it is very difficult to be a multidisciplinary artist and to reach the excellence. It is more probable enough that you try all the more things, closer you are of the mediocrity in all of them. But, please, do not quote me to Jules Winnfield, man, who is not to become like that.

15. Rocket – Rocket (2009)

Rocket

Rocket there are something so atypical in our pop that his mere existence should already be desatacable. A group of pop where every song contains five or six more and who, nevertheless, sounds so simply as so that the listener does not raise it of the first (not of seconds, not of third, only when you hear the disc several times you begin to realize that you have said often “eh: and this

A rocket there are, also, heirs of several traditions of those that in Spain too many continuity one has not given them despite the lofty of his songs. For example, in Rocket they inhabit XTC, the defending faithful of the complicated songs that there hides the best POP (yes, with capital letters). Also they go for a walk for the streets that the Kinks were covering, only that in format brass band instead of orchestral parade. And, finally, under his songs the same autodemand pulse beats and, simultaneously, of apparent chaos that covers the whole discography of Patrol craft Mancuso.

With all that, and other ingredients of proper harvest, the formula that finishes with going out of the still is refreshing, revitalizante and it sets in a cheerful mood. Perhaps, with the time we discover that to be a fan of the Rocket finishes with doing to you better person. Still for lack of verifying if this is true, the truth is that any scene is much better if they walk round there.

14. Triangle of Brave Love – Triangle of Brave Love (2007)

Triangle of Brave Love

One of the most fresh last puffs that have given themselves appointment in the Spanish scene has been led by them Triangle of Brave Love. With an album namesake published in 2007 by Mushroom Pillow Galicians were going to rescue the sound of the Post-punk and of the Shoegaze in his rawest and fast version, with a view to a few The Jesus and Mary Chain anfetamínicos, to a few My Bloody Valentine, without forgetting the Surfin’ Bugs and only with three members who were distributing guitar (Rodrigo Caamaño), under (Isa Cea) and drummer (Julián Ulpiano), that they join on the disc: Miguel Prado (guitars, sinte), Carlos Hernández, who produces the album to them and adds between other instruments, guitars and synthesizers, and up to Joaquín Pascual (Surfin’ Bugs, Mercromina …), that it takes part in one of his hits, ‘The Bogey of the Transition‘, with guitars and keyboards.

The best TAB trick is his direct one, where this namesake reaches his version more punkarra, concealing the voices of his singers between walls of dark sounds and deliberate layers of distortion. Nevertheless when they sing “do not be afraid mom, walk towards the light” (’Who The Healers Are‘), when Isa does the spigot in ‘I sa vs The Humanist Party‘, when they recommend to take razor or when they dock one of the most sticky hits of last times, ‘The Anthem of the Bullet‘, the group breaks this sonorous barrier and the letters end up by being hummed. (Natxo)

A song: ' Estrella Azul of Spain (goear): "The free world already wants a fire”.

13. Daisy – Magic Park (2008)

margarita_parque_magico

After much to wait, the promise turned in fact and Daisy they were publishing in 2008 an album of impeccable début, both in his definition, anarchic and expressive, and in his construction, free, session in 11 courts that happen of being individual songs to be formed quite where the post-hardcore is recreated by means of fragments that do not come to two minutes.

In whole we have 21 minutes of frenzy in the instruments, incomprehensible voices used as one more resource with screams and hummings of as way (later in the insert the letters can be read), guitars that are mixed between themselves creating this suitable sonorous chaos for any warlike context and that they place in a magnificent edition in vinyl for BCore and GSSH in a forest of the highest trees. Perhaps there it is the only place where this force waste seems small. Engraving live and produced by Ramón Spectrum. (Natxo)

A song: ' Shrimpy you eat. Paul Laughs (last.fm): "You ties the rabbit you loved”.

12. Fright – Ísimos (2008)

Fright Ísimos

Ísimos is not properly the Fright début, likewise not Singing in your siesta either it it is, despite coming earlier. Ísimos is the first thought-out long disc as such of a group that till then was existed fogueado in the mock-ups and thanks to Beer and Partridge it had had the remasterizarlas option and reempaquetarlas (and of liking this way his small but increasing group of followers).

In this country he has arranged to meet so much and so badly to Double Hemstitch that we have lost the sense of what he was inhabiting after them. They are identified by the naïf, but in fact his mastery is in the bad saliva, in the misanthropy of many of his personages, in the linear little of his discs (and of his discography), in his aptitude to do with the most daily devastating songs, shields before the disgust of ours every day. Fright they gather all that (’Fear of the normal things‘ was in his secondly mock-up, but clear good says it) and in Ísimos they do every day of the gossips, ‘I hope we meet’ that only serves it make clear that love you neither do not even do not even to see, these meetings of ancient pupils, these nights when you are already too much major to go away of bars, but you cannot allow doing it. Luxuries and miseries.

And, also, they are not afraid in claiming repeatedly his concept of small group and ultra-amateur: his songs undo if the sights, because they are not done for that, and neither they it were of Dan Treacy and the TV Personalities. They do not want to be big, probably, nor "improve". What it spends is that his songs yes that it are. (probertoj)

A song: ' Last day of the holidays‘ (youtube), he returns the keys, you do not forget the mobile, the prostitute suitcase does not fit in the car, the firm intentions lost of return. “Last day of the holidays we gave ourselves a kiss and the directions and two pulseritas …”. The eternal summer it already has another milestone.

11. Bad Rodríguez – Iberian Luxury (2000)

Bad Rodríguez - Iberian Luxury

It was running the year 2000 and after two twelve inch singles, To jierro and I mark the minute, and a pair of misunderstandings with the record companies, it made debut with Iberian Luxury. 50.000 copies that it sold, dialed of gold of those of earlier, were the evidence that the national hip-hop was coming to more people than to the rappers.

Bad Rodríguez, woman raised in the street contributed his rapid verb and self-confidence, the Sevillian accent and a series of songs that it incorporated into names in rise as Capital Jot, Supermafamacho, Chulito Camacho, Kase-O and R of Rumba, Dive Dibosso or Kultama.

‘I mark the minute’, ‘I have a dealing’, ‘With ten or with twenty’ and ‘The cook’ they keep on being fundamental in his current repertoire. For something it will be. (Víctor)

Something they have the low funds of the city that make them tremendously attractive in spite of his multiple dangers. The Bad one did of perfect hostess accompanying for the dark side of the hip-hop those who earlier had not dared to penetrate the border and were discovering that in the quarters the life, although without luxuries, it is wilder and exciting. (Koala)

In the Hip-Hop it is difficult to see the feminine contribution and less even if the scene is not even placed, as it was the case of Spain, which still kept on pulling the old school of The Club of the Violent Poets or SFDK, between others, of which they went out the majority of the MCs that then would triumph alone. Bad Rodríguez gained himself the respect of all with Iberian Luxury where the production of Supernafamacho, Jotamayúscula and R of Rhumba (only ‘In My City It Does Gypsy slang‘) it does big part of the work of the album, contributing a few very attractive bases in the rhythm on which there Bad Maria was appearing to distribute his particular phrasing, “the cook of your best plates”. (Natxo)
