The best Spanish débuts of the XXIst century (Part III)

The best débuts of the XXIst Century

Third part, we enter half of the table of the best Spanish discs of début of the XXIst century (that yes, that we take a little time, that's why it is easier to do the list).

We bring proposals of the most varied thing: from names known for enough up to some smaller that, nevertheless, it are deserved that we put the focus on them: we are not as to waste the talent. And eye, we have the first inclusion of the hip-hop in the list, a good moment to remember that Ricky Rubio Porta also made debut in this decade … like Tuenti. Sign of the Times, which Prince would say?

32. The Carradine – Suspicious Train of Vida (2007)

The Carradine In the scene where the groups only are known by his mother, brothers, fiancées, friends and little more, not estila to return for the pasta, more than anything because there is not even a person in his healthy judgment that he invests in a group in order to recover his income multiplied by thousand. The Carradine returned after six years of having separated, although until 2007 they do not throw this Suspicious Train of Life (Strange Ones), a compendium of this Punk of lefts that so much is missing somewhere here and that in ‘Sentimental Vietnam‘ or in ‘The Nobel Prize of the Pau‘ has two perfect examples.

Between praises deserved to Billy Bragg, to one of his heroes, topics slip in as ‘It Is not That It Was Mod‘ and: What a Singer-songwriter!‘, entertaining and sticky by means of irony. (Natxo)

A song: ' Sound to the Smiths (youtube), “and there say the children who turn the 80 …”

31. Pyrenean lake Errazkin – Pyrenean lake Errazkin (2000)

Pyrenean lake Errazkin When Him Mans said goodbye with his F-I-N hidden after the fronts of Aramburu we lost one of the most singular groups who gave the national indie of the 90. The donostiarras were seeming to be like many, but after his songs there was always something different and fault of it had His Pyrenean lake Errazkin, his guitarist and composer.

That styles puzzle that Mans already existed in many of (seemingly) simple songs of Him emerged in the first album alone of Errakin, 8 sets of instruments who were stinging here and there (even one already allowed to see the passion for the Pyrenean lake reggae, till then known for many) and that it disconcerted so much that I swear that I have seen this disc in blogs of mp3 on Spanish progressive rock. (probertoj)

A song: ' Summer in the town‘ (goear)

30. Skizoo – Skizoo (2005)

Skizoo Dissolved Sôber in his maximum popularity level, to Antonio Bernardini and Jorge Escobedo there did not occur to them another thing than to be allied by Morti, which had been a singer of The Fantastic Man Bleats, more Dani Pérez, battery of Saratoga, and Dani Criado, bassist of XXL.

Together they signed an impressive début, superior to the one that another half of Sôber signed, that is to say, Sap. Here Skizoo distanced clearly of the stela of those, more than anything for the versatile voice of the vocalist, perhaps the one that possesses more records inside the state rock.

Topics since ‘Risk‘,It will be necessary to forget‘ or ‘Not everything is lost‘ there are three of the best topics of his career. I remain with the one that I recommend to you. (Víctor)

A song: ' Resignation to the sun‘ (youtube)

29. Deluxe – Not What You Had Thought (2001)

Deluxe It is difficult to Xoel López to find behind Not What You Had Thought, his first disc. At least to the Xoel that today we know and which some big followers of his initial stage, between whom I include myself, we have ended up by giving the back, much to our sorrow.

He started by singing in English, much nearer to the britpop than to the folklore of his native Gallicia and than to pop who had been done in our country with the change of century. Resorting to the psicodelia, to the sound sixtie, the Motown, to the magnetism of the organ Hammond and to all these British bands that one day marked us, it managed to hook us and that we saw in him the big hope indie, although today nobody dares to recognize it.

One hurts that every time he was turning out to be more attracted by the big neons of the commerciality that were appearing in his way up to the point of blinding him completely. I have my doubts if one should have happened to the Castilian, but what I realize well is that it would never have to leave the sitar. (Koala)

A song: ' Looking Though The Hole‘ (youtube), muñeira psisodélica.

28. Extraperlo – Continental Breakfast (2009)

Extraperlo The success of The Point one year earlier leveled the area to them to the natives of Barcelona Extraperlo, but this does not remove that they were joining the current of the tropical sounds opened on the market for Pablo Díaz-Reixa Díaz, they were already taking time in Barcelona allowing to hear and also they took other musical ties as Low Blows or Julio Bustamante that they were marking the way of docking this new Pop inside Spain and with the language as extra cost.

They others were joining both mentioned names like Poison, Orange Juice and up to Fania All Stars, generating an addictive cocktail and of that to the first listening one stays prendado of his sound that does without battery to place a box of rhythms of fund, under proper of the P-funk, and such a personal voice of Borja Rosal.

The songs speak for themselves and in every listening they win in hook. I keep on staying with ‘Bogeys‘ like my favorite, due to the line of down with the one that constructs herself the melody, the phrasing and the letter that achieve an addictive rhythm. But there is more, ‘Swimsuits‘, unstoppable summer anthem or ‘Cavalcade‘, where this so personal Extraperlo touch is seen. A very big début for that we wait one agrees in a second even better. (Natxo)

A song: ‘Bogeys‘ (youtube): the force of the Funk and of a good line of saxo.

27. Deneuve – The love seen from the air (2002)

The Love seen from the air Deneuve The natives of Cordoba Deneuve were not afraid to the criticism. Because it is necessary to admit that to make debut with a conceptual disc on the love gives cause at which many look at you badly, especially all the more indie is your public, where of the prejudices cuirass is done.

The love seen from the air is a rare avis, like almost the whole career of Deneuve: he is pop according to the bible of the Smiths where the dramatism has a lot of importance, but it neither ruins the songs nor turns them into anything pompous, overloaded or, worse, pitiful.

Along 15 songs (less, some cuts serve as story of how an affectionate relation is born, grows and dies murdered by one of the two) Deneuve uses everything what they have to hand to be nearby and simultaneously of an elegant drama. The soccer of ‘Saint Denis 3.0’ or the festivals of music with fiancée are part of this walk along the elegant side and a little he-goat of any infatuation. (probertoj)

A song: ' San Valentín‘ (youtube), because not always one can say the correct words in the precise moment.

26. Cooper – Fonorama (2000)

Cooper Fonorama Álex Díez, leader of Cooper, has always defended the format EP rather than the long album. The ideal area for his Pop of British roots of the 60 and with the memory Mod in every guitar riff it has in the small format his best option, since it is difficult to achieve a work of 10 or more topics with the same freshness in this sound than in 4 songs.

Hence in that his discography is replete with EPs between which there emphasize the first ones, like Dizziness (2001, Elefant Records), 747 (2003, Elefant) or Oxidized (2004, Elefant), all of them treated about a perfect, addictive Pop and with a view to The Who, The Kinks or The Jam. The musical past in The Bowshots determines mostly the Cooper sound and although we are already not in the scene of the 80 re-living through the sound Mod, something is in all the songs.

Fonorama, published in 2000 as all his discography by Elefant Records, to whom we owe them that projects as this one have his exit, seems made like the eternal single, every court is an anthem Pop. Happy, blurred and with vitalist refrains. (Natxo)

A song: ‘Dizziness‘ (youtube), “in the mirror I had doubts To The glance of being I”.

25. The Exception – Looks at Madrid slang (2003)

It looks at Madrid slang - at The Exception Hip-hop from Blessed Bread. This was the mark that minted this trio proceeding from a peripheral quarter of Madrid. Gypsies but also rappers, The Exception signed the most brilliant début disc, with a few very nice bases of Dako Style and a few letters spat by The Langui and Gypsy Anthony the most ingenious.

Tasting Madrid slang came after a maxi, In your car, paio!, that happened almost unnoticed enclosed for that we are more to the parrot. The album was bringing to us a freshness and a disarming, absent healthy irony till then in the state hip-hop.

Topics like ‘Orthopedic shoe‘, an autobiographical topic of The Langui, ‘Us Beats‘, with Antonio Carmona helping this one, or ‘Owners twin‘ are already essential in his repertoire of direct. (Víctor)

A topic: ' It hears compai‘ (youtube), the most sticky and entertaining cut of all.

24. Lidia Damunt – In the island of the scarves

Lidia Damunt In La Isla of The Scarves There was always something primitive in the song of Hello Cuca, but the first disc of Lidia Damunt alone was further: he proposed to turn The Sleeve and the places of the Minor Sea into a desert of western that might be filmed by John Ford.

With the rock'n'roll of the 50 as sound-track and a narrative that he bets for the most accurate magic realism, Lidia Damunt discovered to us what we already knew: that “The Truth is a newspaper of Murcia and nothing more” and that in Spain also we can move the folk of other places to our own idiosyncrasy, even although it is a tourists' area and eradication. (probertoj)

A song: ' Eight seahorses (goear), only there remain eight in the Minor Sea.

23. Kiev when It snows – Kiev When It snows (2007)

Kiev When It snows Perhaps shortly let's have to say that Kiev When It snows there are something more than an underground promise of national pop. But the true thing is that in his début, in which they were compiling topics lost for many years of passage maquetera, there was already enough more than promises (that do not serve as anything).

For pop of the 60s has hooked with the dreampop with a few drops of sweet slowness to the Low, Kiev When Snow there have been for the long time the lost opportunity of all the record companies indies known of our country. That's why there is so important the work of the smallest stamps, like AAR: because they never close the ears they stop giving the canister until his favorite groups finally publish disc. (probertoj)

A song: ‘Assistant‘, (goear): is it possible to do an anthem to the student defeats?

22. Fernando Alfaro and The Alienists – Carnevisión (2007)
Carnevisión An indefinite contract would be necessary to do Fernando Alfaro of for life that allows him to live in his petrol station, where it could recreate his personal world, with his filias and phobias, with his sex and religion, with his perversion and his warmth, and which from time to time a new unpublished material publishes for the enjoyment of his fans, that we are great.

For me, he is one of the best lyricists that we have had till now in Spain, at a height of Carlos Berlanga. Mongrel separated in 2005, after 10 years in assets, more than the almost six of Surfin’ Bugs. Only one year later, in 2006 Alfaro joins his Alienists, old acquaintances of previous projects and up to relatives, like Elizabeth León, his wife. The inhabitant of Albacete was returning in 2007, under a small project, The Giant Dwarfs, and with new work, Carnevisión.

Twelve topics that they were bringing again to Alfaro, although not to the same one that captivated to us with the unbeatable one The Newspapers of Oil (2001, Virgin), different other that there was preserving his phrasing, his increases and descents in the melodies and especially, to the composer of the most particular letters. (Natxo)

A song: ' He remains Expelled from the Human species (goear), Alfaro and his "positive" vision of the world.
